Al+Fe tube

A series of cylindrical tubes formed by joining aluminium (upper section) to stainless steel (lower section), with varying lengths on each side to demonstrate flexibility in design.

The joints are produced using circumferential friction stir welding (FSW), with a clearly defined transition zone indicating a high-integrity solid-state bond. This showcases the capability of FSW to reliably join dissimilar materials, combining the lightweight properties of aluminium with the strength and corrosion resistance of stainless steel for a wide range of industrial applications.
