Al+Fe flange

A cylindrical, flanged component formed by joining aluminium (left) to stainless steel (right). The joint is produced using friction stir welding (FSW), with a clear transition zone indicating a high-integrity solid-state bond. This demonstrates the capability of FSW to reliably join dissimilar materials, combining lightweight aluminium with the strength and corrosion resistance of stainless steel in a production-ready component.
